'Finding Your Personal Wanderlust'

Updated: Jul 14

Hello! I'm Rowena. A Northern English native, multimedia artist, animal obsessive and squirrelling collector (or hoarder) of model horses from the North of England.

I wanted to give a short introduction, for friends both old and new, as I've only returned to the hobby as of this year (2025) after an 8-year-long hiatus. If you've placed an order of 3D printed artist resins or received a custom painted model horse from me, you'll no doubt have seen a certain phrase dotted around:

'Find Your Personal Wanderlust'

What the heck does that even mean? Well, to me it means having the courage to search for the things that bring you joy and intrigue, the things that spark your creativity and make you forget about the world around you, even if just for a moment. It may mean something entirely different to you, and I encourage you to explore that!

Here's some background on Wayfaring Fox, and a look into how I discoverd (or rediscovered) my personal wanderlust:

Wayfaring Fox sprouted from a student film project I made during my animation degree, 'Between The Tree and the Bark'.

It told the story of a lost wolf and a fox that helped her rediscover her joy for life through his wild & playful nature.

I often found myself searching for an internal feeling of home and comfort, following a series of bad mental health episodes.

Over time, I embraced this feeling and took on the mentality of the explorative and inquisitive fox, both creatively and physically - slowly returning to the model horse hobby, getting back into physical art and hiking in the countryside.

That's the nature of Wayfaring Fox; I encourage you to explore life and the environment around you, creatively and/or literally, through my art or your own.

Follow the butterfly, or whatever shiny thing piques your interest, and keep going. You never know where it might lead you!

I'm currently in a phase of my life where I'm drawn to creating horses primarly, but that's not to say I will forever, or that I won't dabble in other things; I don't fear that any more, not like I once did. Why not take a look at some of my creations and see if they spark a desire to explore your own creative wanderlust too?
